No. 8 Virginia raced out to a big halftime lead and turned that into a 14-7 win over Richmond. The Cavaliers got big performances from seniors Davi Sacco, Ryan Tucker and Owen Van Arsdale, and advanced to 8-2 on the season. Here are three observations from the game:Richmond can be tricky. The Spiders struggled  against Virginia, but the Southern Conference leaders are not to be overlooked. They have solid shooters in J.P. Forester, Dan Ginestro, Mitch Goldberg, and Mickey Hofmeister. The loss today dropped them to 6-4 for the season, but they took Marquette to OT and hung with North Carolina before eventually falling. Coach Dan Chemotti has done a fantastic job taking a brand new program to a solid team in just two seasons. Richmond currently sits atop the Southern Conference at 2-0, tied with Mercer. Don’t be surprised to see them in the NCAA Tournament again this year, and they could give a top seed fits.
