Vander Kolk's 18 Saves Lead Virginia Over BC

NEWTON, Mass. - The Virginia women’s lacrosse team has made quite the name for itself slaying giants this season.

That reputation only grew on Saturday afternoon, as the No. 8 Cavaliers withstood the snow to knock off previously unbeaten No. 2 Boston College, 15-13, at the Newton Sports Complex in Newton, Mass.

It marked the fifth ranked opponent the team has beaten and third that came in previously undefeated.

“With [BC coming in unbeaten], that’s a big stage to play on,” said Virginia goalkeeper Rachel Vander Kolk, who made a career-high 18 saves. “We felt really good in warm-ups and we knew this was a game that we needed.”
