Syracuse Alone Atop DI Heap With Rout of Duke

Duke head coach John Danowski said the Blue Devils team that took the field against No. 1 Syracuse in the Carrier Dome on Sunday was the "most poorly coached" squad he's had during his tenure.
And on the other side of the field was an Orange team firing on all cylinders at every position, just waiting to capitalize.
"We got taken out to the woodshed," Danowski said. "and we've got to tip our cap to the Orange. They were ready, focused, and they were great today."


 
Despite the absence of senior attackman Randy Staats, Syracuse surged ahead to an early 5-0 lead and never looked back, drubbing the defending national champion and fourth-ranked Blue Devils 19-7.
